Wilmington Grammar School for Boys

Sixth Form Open Evening  3rd November 2011, 6pm start

Opening for online applications  4th November 2011

Deadline for online applications  6th January 2012

General Guidelines for applying

To enter the Sixth Form, students need to have at least eight full GCSE passes at A*-C. This must include English and Mathematics and a point score of at least 44. This is calculated by looking at the GCSE results. An A* is worth 8 points, an A = 7, a B = 6, a C = 5, a D = 4 and so on. The point score is calculated by adding up the points for English and Mathematics, plus the six best other results. No single qualification (for example Diplomas or BTECs) will be valued as more than 2 GCSEs.

For A level study, you should choose subjects which you enjoy and for which you have aptitude. To embark on a course of A level study we expect you to have at least a Grade B in the subject you wish to study, or where it is a new subject, a Grade B in a related subject. In Physics and Mathematics you will need A grades in the respective GCSE subjects.
